Job Description: 

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Jyväskylä in central Finland is a world class research institution training mathematicians and statisticians for diverse jobs in industry, education, and academic research. The main research areas in the Department are mathematics, stochastics, and statistics with their applications. Research is often conducted in cooperation with scientists in nearby fields.

Professors (1-3 positions) in Mathematics, Stochastics and Statistics, starting 1 August 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. A professor is expected to have a PhD, high level scientific qualifications, records in directing research programs and in educating undergraduate, graduate and PhD students, and post-doctoral researchers, as well as records of international cooperation in his or her field of expertise.
