May 25 2012 - 23:59
Venue:

Brussels, on the Solbosch Campus of the Université libre de Bruxelles.

Short description of the event:

The Journées de Statistique represent the most important scientific event of the French-speaking world of statistics. Since their creation, the Journées de Statistique have mainly been organized in France (Marseille 2010, Bordeaux 2009, etc.), but also in Canada (Ottawa 2008, Québec 1996), in Morrocco (Fès 2000), in Switzerland (Neuchâtel 1994, Lausanne 1987), and in Tunisia (Tunis 2011). Belgium has been the host in 1982, 1992 and 2002, and will pursue this decennial tradition with 2012.

The 44th Journées de Statistique, since 1970 the annual meeting of the Société Française de Statistique, will take place in Brussels, on the Solbosch Campus of the Université libre de Bruxelles, from May 21 to 25, 2012.

The Journées de Statistique wish to take part in the promotion of the use and understanding of statistics, and in the enrichment of its methodological developments. They offer the opportunity to statisticians from the administrations, the enterprises and educational or research institutions to exchange ideas. They also pay a particular attention to the young statisticians in order to ease their integration into the scientific community. Note, for example, that a meeting point for young people will enable guest lecturers to discuss with young PhD students, researchers or practitioners.

All statistical themes, theoretical and applied, are welcome, but special attention will be given to risks, dependent data and econometrics, to statistics for life sciences, and to complex and high-dimensional data.

Contributed talks are welcome both in English as in French.
