You should be a leading researcher and teacher in the field of computational mathematics. We expect you to build your own internationally recognized research group. The major part of your work will be to conduct research, but you should also engage in teaching at all levels and supervision of master and PhD students, as well as management of research and university administration.
The scientific focus should be on development and mathematical analysis of numerical methods and their implementations in robust and efficient software for high-performance computing systems.
The department has close connections with the Fraunhofer Chalmers Research Centre for Industrial Mathematics (FCC) and you will spend 20 percent of your time as a scientific advisor for the centre.
A large part of the research at Chalmers is organized into eight interdisciplinary Areas of Advance. You are expected to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to promote the use of mathematics in other areas of science and technology.
We offer you a position as a Full Professor. Our internationally well-established research group in computational science will give you a scientifically inspiring environment and access to a worldwide network of scientific contacts. You will have excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary contacts through the Chalmers Areas of Advance and industrial contacts through the Fraunhofer Chalmers Research Centre for Industrial Mathematics.
The offer also includes a language course for non-Swedish speakers and a relocation package (including moving costs and help with practical issues for people moving to Sweden).
