Tenure Track Position in Stochastic Modeling and Statistical Inference in Aquatic Environmental Research
Applications are sought from individuals with
· an excellent knowledge and research portfolio in Bayesian statistical inference, its numerical implementation, and nonlinear systems theory;
· interest to apply these techniques to improve our understanding of aquatic ecosystems at various levels of biological organization and to support environmental modeling and inference at Eawag;
· interest and experience in working in multidisciplinary teams and in maintaining a disciplinary research network to external partners.
We expect the candidate to have a PhD in mathematics, statistics or theoretical physics. The new research group will profit from the methodological and applied research done in the Department of Systems Analysis, Integrated Assessment and Modeling (http://www.eawag.ch/forschung/siam/index_EN) and the stimulating collaborations with the other research departments at Eawag. The Department is also closely affiliated with the Department of Environmental Systems Sciences at ETH Zurich (http://www.usys.ethz.ch/index_EN) and we maintain collaboration with the Seminar for Statistics at ETH (http://www.stat.math.ethz.ch/). The successful candidate should take advantage of this collaborative environment and of Eawag's world-class infrastructure and facilities to develop a strong research program, acquire third party funding to support it, recruit PhD and Masters students, and contribute to Eawag's mandate in teaching and expert consulting. Excellent communication skills in English and skills in team work are essential.
