The Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) at
Heidelberg University is seeking a highly motivated
JUNIOR GROUP LEADER in UNCERTAIN SYSTEMS
to establish a junior research group in the broad area of uncertainty
quantification in modeling, simulation and optimization.
The junior research group is expected to develop cutting edge
mathematical, statistical and/or algorithmic methodology at the
interface of the mathematical and computational sciences and one or more application
areas. Research collaborations within the IWR, the Heidelberg
Graduate School of Mathematical and Computational Methods for the
Sciences (HGS MathComp) and the Faculty of Mathematics and
Informatics, as well as on and beyond Heidelberg Campus, and
participation in existing and future research networks, are strongly
The successful candidate holds a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics,
Computer Science or a related field and has relevant interdisciplinary
research experience combined with an excellent international publication
record. Teaching experience is of advantage.
We offer a five-year position at salary scale E14 or W1 for the junior
group leader, a merit-based option of a start-up professorship for another six years,
and a package of financial support that includes stipends for two PhD students.
The position is part of the Graduate School of Mathematical and Computational Methods for the
Sciences (HGS MathComp) funded by the German excellence initiative.
