A postdoctoral researcher position is available in the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology at the University of Leoben, Austria.
About the Position
The postdoctoral researcher will be based in the Chair of Applied Mathematics and will work with a research team consisting of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Erika Hausenblas, another postdoctoral researcher, and a PhD student. The focus of the researcher will be on a FWF (Austrian Science Fund) research project, Nonlinear Filtering with Respect to Levy Noise.
The position is for two and half years. The postdoctoral researcher will be offered a full-time employment contract and will receive an internationally competitive salary with full social security coverage and additional benefits including travel allowance to scientific conferences and workshops.
About the Candidate
The candidate is expected to possess a doctoral degree in Applied Mathematics or another related field, with a strong background in Stochastic Analysis and Levy Processes. Knowledge or experience in Filtering Theory and Stochastic Partial Differential Equations will be a plus.
About the City
Situated in central Austria, Leoben is the second largest city in Styria. The historical old town is surrounded by the Mur river and mountains. From here, the other major cities including Vienna, Graz, Salzburg, and Innsbruck can all be easily reached. Vienna International Airport is within three hours by trains. There are also direct trains to many cities in other European countries, including Zurich, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, Prague, Warsaw, Venice, Florence, and Rome.
