Lectures sponsored by the Bernoulli Society and the EMS

The Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability and the European Mathematical Society have agreed to sponsor lectures between the two societies with the running theme "What can statistics/mathematics do for mathematics/statistics?". They have appointed a selection committee consisting of Herbert Edelsbrunner, Yves Meyer, Benedikt M. Poetscher and Michael Sørensen. The first of this series of lectures will be delivered by Emmanuel Candes, professor of mathematics and statistics at the Department of Mathematics, Stanford University, at the 29th European Meeting of Statisticians in Budapest 20-25 July 2013.
