The Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of the University of Heidelberg invites
applications for a

Professorship (W3) in Numerical Analysis.

This professorship is associated with the Institute of Applied Mathematics (IAM) and is on
the level of a "start-up professorship" (with tenure). Applicants should have an eminent
research record in the methodological development and analysis of numerical methods
preferably in the area Computational Optimization. They should have experience with
concrete problems in scientific and industrial applications. An active role is desired in
current as well as planned cooperative research projects at IAM and the Center for
Scientific Computing (IWR). Further, adequate participation is expected in the teaching of
undegraduate and graduate courses within the study programs of the Faculty, particularly
in the field Numerical Analysis and Optimization. The general teaching language is
