The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for up to five tenured or tenure-track positions beginning Fall 2014. The Department seeks to hire in the following general areas:
One position in statistics/biostatistics
Up to two positions in mathematics with a preference for differential/algebraic/symplectic Geometry and allied fields
Up to two positions in computational/applied mathematics.
Candidates should have a PhD in mathematics, statistics or closely related field and a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching. Preference will be given to candidates who have shown the ability or potential to interface and collaborate with current faculty members in the Schools of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science, and Management at UTD.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The University of Texas of Dallas is a rapidly growing university with ambitious plans to advance innovative, interdisciplinary research and education in emerging areas of technology, science, and learning. The Department of Mathematical Sciences, which currently has 26 tenured/tenure-track faculty, is planning to significantly increase its size by hiring several faculty with outstanding research records or potential and outstanding teaching records or potential.
Applicants for the tenured or tenure-track positions will be judged on their potential ability to meet the following standards:
The ability to conduct high-quality graduate and undergraduate teaching in topics that provide breadth to current areas of strength in the department.
Outstanding research record or potential, and the potential for acquiring independent external funding.
