We are advertising a postdoctoral position within the interdisciplinary cooperation of the Faculties of Mathematics and Computer Sciences and of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Heidelberg. Heidelberg University is the oldest university in Germany and celebrated its 625th anniversary in 2011. In 2007 it became one of nine Universities of Excellence supported by the Excellence Initiative of the German government.

As part of this support, the Faculties of Mathematics and Computer Sciences and of Physics and Astronomy started a “Partnership Mathematics and Physics”, whose goal is to strengthen the cooperation between Mathematics and Physics at research as well as teaching level. The partnership consists of Prof. Banagl, Prof. T. Gneiting, Prof. A. Hebecker, Prof. H. Knüpfer, Prof. W. Kohnen, Prof. M. Podolskij, Prof. D. Roggenkamp, Prof. M. Salmhofer, Prof. O. Venjakob, Prof. T. Weigand, Prof. R. Weissauer, Prof. C. Wetterich, and Prof. A. Wienhard.

We are advertising a postdoctoral position for one year within this partnership. The postdoctoral fellow will not have any teaching duties, but is expected to take an active part in the interdisciplinary cooperation and its scientific coordination. This may include the organization of seminars, workshops, conferences, or special lecture series, the oversight of the website of the partnership, interaction with scientific visitors or similar tasks.

Candidates should have excellent research potential with research interest at the interface of mathematics and physics, preferably with scientific points of contact with research groups at the Institute for Applied Mathematics, the Institute of Mathematics, or the Institute for Theoretical Physics.
