The DFG-Research Training Group 1932 on Stochastic Models for Innovations in the Engineering Sciences at the University of Kaiserslautern offers 10 PhD positions (100% TV-L E13) each for 3 years starting from 1 April 2014 conditioned on the annual funding by the DFG.
The research training group will be coordinated by the Department of Mathematics of the University of Kaiserslautern. We will focus on interdisciplinary projects in the areas of stochastic production processes, stochastic models forsystem-on-chip design, hardware acceleration for Monte Carlo methods in finance, image analysis for multi-phase materials and stochastic modeling and analysis of fiber-reinforced concrete. Our main aims are the development, implementation and improvement of stochastic models to be used in those particular applications in the engineering sciences.
