PhD or Postdoc Positions in ERC Project (Optimization/Statistics/Machine Learning)

We invite applications for open PhD and PostDoc positions in the ERC Project "Nonlinear Eigenproblems for Data Analysis"
in the machine learning group at Saarland University ( http://www.ml.uni-saarland.de ).

PhD positions: The applicant should have a degree (diploma or master) in computer science, mathematics or physics. The position requires a very strong background in mathematics in particular linear algebra, statistics, probability, and/or optimization and strong analytical skills. Programming experience in C++ or MATLAB is required. A background in machine learning is appreciated but not necessary.

PostDoc positions: You have a strong publication record in the top journals/conferences of either machine learning, statistics or optimization. Moreover, you have a very good background in mathematics. Alternatively, experts in critical point theory/nonlinear eigenproblems with an interest in applications are also encouraged to apply. The position is initially for one year with the possibility to extend it to up to three years.

This job offer is open until the positions are filled.

For PhD positions the application should include CV, transcripts, bachelor/master thesis, list of references. For postdoc positions the application shoud include
