Postdoctoral Position in Mathematics

We invite applications for a 2-year postdoctoral position, with the option of extension by one year, at the Mathematical Institute, Cologne University, starting from September 1, 2010. There is no teaching requirement.

The position is part of a Leibniz independent junior research group grant, funded by the German Research Council (DFG), under the supervision of Dr. A. Alldridge. The position is funded by the grant; the salary will be at the TV-L E 13 level.

The research group is focused on the analytic and geometric aspects of supersymmetry, in particular the harmonic analysis of symmetric superspaces. It is moreover affiliated with the mathematical-physical Collaborative Research Centre SFB/TR 12, Symmetries and Universality in Mesoscopic Systems, also funded by the DFG. The University of Cologne offers an active and inspiring research environment.

Applicants are required to hold a Ph.D. in mathematics or equivalent and to demonstrate promise for excellence and independence in their research. An active interest in the mathematical aspects of supersymmetry, as documented by previous and ongoing research, is desirable.

The University of Cologne is an equal opportunity employer in compliance with the German law. Applications from women and disabled persons are particularly welcome.

Please submit a cover letter explaining your interest in the position, curriculum vitae, list of publications, statements of research and the names and addresses, including email addresses, of at least two potential referees.
