Lectureship in Biomathematics
Salary range: £42,500 to £47,450 p.a.
Applications are invited for a Lectureship (equivalent to an Assistant Professorial appointment) in Biomathematics, starting in June 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Made possible by an ambitious strategic investment by Imperial College, the Biomathematics Group in the Department of Mathematics is seeking to expand.
All candidates will have research interests in an area of biomathematics or similar discipline at the interface between the mathematical sciences and the experimental life sciences, with preference for those who work at the molecular or cellular level. Candidates should also have a track record of collaborating with experimental biologists.
Candidates for the Lectureship must have a PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematical Sciences or a closely related field and have a growing research record of international standing in the application of mathematics to research questions in current biology. Candidates must demonstrate outstanding research potential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to direct the work of a small research team. Experience in teaching undergraduates and postgraduates is also essential. Advanced experience in Biomathematics is also desirable.
