The Scuola Normale Superiore announces a public selection for two research contracts funded by the ERC grant
"Geometric Measure Theory in non Euclidean Spaces" under the supervision of Luigi Ambrosio.
For one of the two contracts there is the possibility to carry out part of the research program in Zurich, under the supervision of prof. Camillo De Lellis, team member of the project.

SHORT NOTICE: ANNOUNCEMENT OF PUBLIC SELECTION FOR N° 2 RESEARCH CONTRACTS
The Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa announces a selection, based on work to date and possible interview, for n° 2 research contracts as part of the European Project ERC AdG GeMeThNES “Geometric Measure Theory in non-Euclidean spaces’’ (Grant Agreement No. 246923). The subject matter will be Geometric Measure Theory in non-Euclidean Spaces and applications to Partial Differential Equations and to the Theory of Optimal Mass Transportation.
Length of contract: 24 months.
Gross compensation, inclusive of all taxes: € 80,500.00 for each contract
Application deadline: Application forms must be sent within 30 days from the publication of the announcement on the website of the Scuola Normale. Information about the selection procedure can be found below. Candidates are invited to review the
official announcement published on the website of the Scuola Normale, www.sns.it, and to follow exclusively its detailed instructions should they decide to apply.
Applications are invited from candidates who have completed an undergraduate degree in Mathematics or Physics (in accordance with earlier Italian university regulations, or a second-cycle undergraduate degree as per the interdepartmental decree of 9 July 2009) and PhD in Mathematics. Candidates who have completed the aforementioned degrees abroad may also apply, if said degrees are recognized as equivalent to Italian degrees.
Additional competence and/or experience relevant to the choice of the researcher: basic knowledge of English language.
How to apply
Candidates with all the aforementioned requisites who wish to participate in the selection process must present:
- the application, based on the attached model and drawn up on plain paper, signed,
- photocopy (non-authenticated) of a valid identification document,
- a CV containing a detailed description of the studies and professional experience, as well as any
other information or experience that the candidate believes may be useful to the evaluation of her/his application,
- a list of publications.
In order to submit the application and documentation listed above, candidates must use one of these options:
- candidates can send the application form PDF and the documentation PDF via e-mail to the
- candidates can fax the application form and documentation to the number (0039) 050/509716;
- candidates can present the application form and documentation directly, during office hours, to the “Ufficio Protocollo” [Documents Registry Office] of the Scuola Normale, located at Via del Castelletto, n. 11;
- candidates can send the application form and documentation by registered mail with acknowledgement of receipt to the same address.
No other delivery method will be accepted.
Application forms must be sent within 30 days from the publication of the announcement on the website of the Scuola Normale.
The arrival date may be demonstrated by the post office acceptance date or by the arrival receipt of the Documents Registry Office of the Scuola Normale if presented in person.
Applications sent by registered mail should contain: “Avviso n° 123 del 23/12/2010 Progetto ERC GeMeThNES - Grant Agreement n° 246923”.
Candidates will be evaluated based on their CVs, and the candidate whose experience and studies best fit with the professional profile needed will be chosen. The Scuola Normale reserves the right, should it be considered necessary, to interview some selected candidates after examining their CVs.
